We are constantly bombarded with advertising-everywhere we go to the point where you don't even see some of it anymore. At the movie theater, on sides of buses, buildings, flyers on your car, flyers at the daycare, signs, billboards-the list continues. (See how I used a wedding photo in this blog thread? Gottcha). THEN we get smacked with ads when we log on our social medias of choice (facebook, twitter, etc.)-it's never ending drivel of complete strangers telling us what we need or what pages we might like because we like something else. There's no doubt that advertising today isn't your like your meemaws advertising back in the day.
Big money is thrown at advertising agencies in hopes of roping in customers, but did you know the most effective type of advertising out there is word-of-mouth. Not too many people I know enjoy when complete strangers tell them what they need, but when your best friend or brother tells you about a company they had a good (or bad) experience with-you're going to tend to trust and remember what they say. I say that to say this: businesses-really listen to your customers because they are your best advertisment. Treat them right and you won't be disappointed. Treat them bad and I guarantee the whole block will know before you get off the phone.
This applies to everyday life-not just business. Everyone knows which friends tends to spread the news (whether good or bad, relevant or not) and then everyone has those trusted few who have the yoda-knowledge of how to get things done and who to go to to achieve goals. Know where you stand-both in your business world as well as your personal world.
